PG Tips and Recycling

Published: Sep 9, 2013 by admin · This post may contain affiliate links or sponsored content

I’ve always been a keen recycler. For a fancy dress competition at school, I once dressed up a a recycled Christmas Present, and won, I think…

We’ve recently started making compost to try and reduce the waste we put in our bins. It’s amazing just how many banana skins and vegetable peelings we have left over.

The girls also love gardening, and have spent much of summer watering and talking to their plants, so the compost has been very useful.

PG Tips kindly sent us our own recycling starter pack, and a big box of PG Tips. Did you know you can put T-bags in your compost pot?

Materials you can put in your compost bin.

  • Shredded paper ( not shiny magazines )
  • Uncooked vegetable peelings
  • Tea bags
  • Old plants and weeds
  • Lawn clippings

If you’re like us and only have fortnightly bin collections, using all the above for compost saves a lot of bin space!

All our lovely homegrown vegetables and fruits have long since been eaten, but what do you think of our giant Sunflower?

PG Tips have partnered with Recyclebank , who offer rewards when you pledge to recycle and take steps to help reduce waste. Did you know for example that it would take a million years for glass to degrade? Definitely one of the things we should be making a big effort to recycle.

You can also find out more on the PG Tips Facebook page.

We were sent a compost pot,  PG Tip and seeds for the purpose of this post.

I am a recycling demon and get annoyed walking down the street by the houses with 6 black sacks and more with no recycling box when I have 4 children and max 2 sacks! x
