This afternoon, I’ll be heading to school to watch my fourth play of the week. Little H along with her Year R friends were utterly adorable in their version of The Very Hopeless Camel, a play I first watched three years ago when Z was in Year R. She chose to be a donkey and sang her little heart out in every performance even adding some embellishments of her own, which made me giggle and almost brought a tear to my eye at the same time. Her little face doing some of the actions was a picture, one I want to hold in my mind forever. She scrunched up her nose, hand on hips and leant forward when Herod was cross and swung her imaginary baby with gusto when on the stage. She was just brilliant. A star in the making.
I’ve found myself feeling a bit sad this morning, sad that that’s a big milestone of her Year R over already, and I know from experience how fast the year goes from here on.
Little S was amazing in her play as well, despite being a little worried about speaking in front of everyone yesterday morning, she spoke loudly and confidently, also singing away the whole time. I can’t quite believe my girls are growing up so very fast.
In one way I’m lucky that I get to watch my girls more than once in their plays, we get 4 tickets per child to spread over the three performances and as we don’t have any family close by the play watching falls to me, which I love, but it also makes me a bit sad that my children don’t get their Grandparents watching them like other children do. Luckily, I’ve just discovered KatchUp which is a great way to share important memories with family and friends. Unlike social media platforms KatchUp is private so you can invite those most important to you to share memories, past and present. You can even get your memories transformed into gorgeous keepsakes.
How do you hold onto special memories?

I want to see the Very Hopeless Camel. That sounds like a fab play!
We have my daughters nativity in a couple of weeks, so it is definitely Christmas time with all these school plays x

I have Syds first Nativity next week, will be taking tissues as there is nothing like tiny people in Xmas costumes to make me well up! Luckily they are doing a DVD so the grandparents can watch it that way!

KatchUp is a cool way to share stuff isn’t it? Emma I could totally imagine your face watching them from your description – where has this year gone btw feels like ages since we caught up. My daughter is even trying to bring relatives back from the grave to come to her concerts – there is one, her teacher says is esp suitable for grannies, but her grandparents aren’t able to make it that day, so she is going back and asking for all the great greats to come!

Ahh Christmas plays always make me well up, I really don’t think I’d cope with more than one!
Great to see them growing into confident little people. x

I’m with you – it’s going WAY too fast for my liking. My youngest is a sheep in the nativity next week and I’ll have to prepare myself for it! I’m on This Morning on Thursday talking last minute nativity outfits! I’ll have to try not to sob! x

I miss this so much – I have one in Y7 and one in Y5 and they do carol services rather than nativity now x

The grandparents not watching makes me sad too. My ex in laws lived 5 miles away from my kids school and never once did they come to a performance. But that is a whole other blog post.
What matters is that you were there, so many parents can’t be. And how gorgeous!?!!!!
