Not really a new office, but a new organised, tidy office. At least that’s the dream. I’m really lucky to have a whole room as my work area, I have a lovely big white desk, a great iMac, lovely chair and a whole heap of mess surrounding me. My office has become the dumping ground for the rest of the house. 9 times out of 10 I can’t even close the door as the entire room is full of boxes and bags. As well as being quite stressful to look at, I find it very hard to concentrate in such an unorganised area. My other problem is that my job requires such a lot of props and equipment. I have endless amounts of beakers, magnet wands, tweezers, bits of paper, cardboard boxes and craft materials. Whenever I do throw something out, it always feels like I need it agin the next day, but enough is enough, I need a clean and stress free work area.
In my head, my office should look something like this.
In reality it couldn’t be more different. Imagine slightly yellowed walls, huge pieces of cardboard stacked around the desk, bits of paper with scribbled notes scattered around, a whiteboard quite literally covered in paper so full that when you walk past bits fall off. So when pib asked me if I’d like to review some of the fabulous products on their website I headed straight to the organisation section. The first product I was instantly drawn to, was the wire mesh magazine rack, which I thought would be perfect for organising my paperwork ( and maybe for the odd magazine ). I wish I could show you a beautiful image with the rack on an empty wall, but this is the reality of my current office so here you go!
All the papers you can see were previously in a big folder, completely unorganised, so now at least I have a little more organisation.
No matter how hard I try to organise our house, we always have an excessive number of coats ( 6 people is a lot of stuff ) so I chose these gorgeous coat hooks too. They allow some of the kids coats to hang in my office instead of on the end of the stairs!
In the past we have bought many storage products to try and sort out our house and nothing has really worked, so this time I’m determined not to buy any more home accessories, until my clearout is done! I’ve already sold lots of things the kids have outgrown or never play with in local facebook groups and given about 20 bags of old clothes and toys to charity shops. I am starting to see a difference, but there’s still a way to go yet. When I’m finished though I really want to get the stackable storage baskets and Alma golden mirror from pib’s vintage home accessories range. What would you choose?
I’ve been reading about the Marie Condo method, and plan to watch the TV show tonight!! Tiny house here I come!
Huge thanks to pib for thhe gorgeous products shown above. Just maybe try picturing them in a tidy house.
