Do you have any holiday travel plans for 2019? We’re hopefully off on a California road trip later in the year, which I should start planning, but it seems so far away still. I’m also slightly nervous about doing such a big trip with a little one. He was great when we went to Greece last year, but that was a much easier holiday.
I’m secretly hoping we can cram in an extra trip around Easter time, maybe a cruise as we’re quite close to Southampton and cutting out the aeroplane part of the journey is very appealing! I love the idea of driving down to the port and stepping on a big ship. The thought of being in a relatively small space with lots of people bothers me a little, but everyone I know who has been on a cruise holiday says you don’t notice the amount of people, so I’m just it would be fine and definitely a great experience for all of us. How amazing would it be to wake up in a different part of the world each day? It must be incredible and such an easy way to visit lots of different places as part of the same holiday. Imagine seeing the Northern lights from a cruise ship. The main problem we have with a cruise holiday is we need two staterooms to fit us all in, which obviously bumps up the cost.
I know the kids would love the entertainment on a cruise ship though and little Charlie would adore the wildlife if we went somewhere exotic. Imagine seeing Penguins in Antactica or Polar Bears on the Artic, it would be such a life changing experience.
My dream cruise wish list includes a trip on a Disney Cruise ship around the Bahamas, a trip of the Norwegian Fjords and a tour of the Galapagos Islands. I’d also love to go on a European river cruise, perhaps down the Danube or the Seine? Have you been on a cruise holiday with children? How did you find it?
Other than dreaming of cruising, I also want to ski again. February Half Term has brought a sudden influx of ski holiday photos from my friends, leaving me wondering why on earth we’re not skiing right now. It’s the cost that has been the major difficulty this year as any holiday for a family of 6 is very expensive and I worry that skiing wouldn’t be much fun for Charlie. We’ve not yet managed to find the best way to ski with little ones. I keep looking at chalets with in house Nannies, which would probably be our best option, but again they are just so expensive which is a shame as Zak would definitely love a ski holiday.
I’ll probably have to stop dreaming now and start planning…California here we come..
