Love them or hate them (we are assuming the latter), those household chores do need to get done. From vacuuming your carpets to scrubbing those dirty rings around the bath, your to-do list probably seems neverending. This will be especially true to you if you have kids and/or pets in the house with you.
Still, your life can be made easier.
#1: Hire a cleaning service
You don’t need to hire a cleaning service every week, but if you could get somebody to give your home a deep clean every so often, you would then have less work to do yourself during your usual household chores.
Check out the services of Houseproud Cleaning as just one example of what a cleaning service could offer you.
#2: Buy a better vacuum cleaner
If your vacuum is way past its best, it probably isn’t picking up the dirt and grime from your floor properly. This sucks (sorry for the pun), as you will then have to spend longer working on your carpets, and that means less time to get on with your other household chores.
So, if your vacuum is clearly not doing its job anymore, send it to the recycling center. Then replace it with something new, such as the Karcher WD4 Premium, which we gave a positive review about a little while ago. It’s one of the most powerful vacuum cleaners around and is good for other tasks, such as unblocking your sinks, so let that be another incentive to replace your old and rickety model.
#3: Buy an iRobot Roomba
The Roomba isn’t as powerful as the model we just mentioned, but it is great for getting the floors clean when you just can’t be bothered to lift yourself from the sofa. Sit back with a cup of tea and let the Roomba busy itself on your behalf. Also good for annoying the cat!
#4: Get the kids involved
Let’s face it; your kids are probably responsible for much of the mess in your home, so it’s only right that they should help you with your chores. Of course, getting them to help you will be easier said than done, but by turning housework into a fun activity, you might just persuade them to step away from their games consoles for half an hour. Check out these cleaning games, for example.
#5: Lay down some rules
You don’t have to create a long list of rules, but by thinking of just a few, your life will be a lot easier when it comes to the housework. As examples, you might include:
- Put one toy away before getting out another (for your kids).
- When you have finished with a plate or cup, wash it instead of leaving it on the floor.
- Put your laundry in the basket after getting a bath or shower.
- Leave your shoes at the door.
- Make your bed when you get up in the morning.
So, stick up a list of your own rules somewhere in your home, and make a pact with your family that you will all promise to adhere to them.
By using some of these ideas in your home, your household chores won’t be such a burden anymore. Let us know if you have any other ideas in the comments below.
