Christmas, it’s a lovely time of year and an expensive often stressful time of year. I’ve got some top tips for how you can save money in the run up to the festive season and throughout the year as well!
Cashback, cashback, cashback
I do most of my shopping online so cashback is a great way to save money throughout the year without realising. I try to save it up all year then I have a good amount to help with Christmas expenses. Quidco is my favourite cashback site. It’s easy to use and the % return is great!
Keep an eye out for specula bonuses and rewards that can really boost your return!
Sell your old stuff
Use local Facebook groups, eBay and websites like Music Magpie to sell things you no longer need. Music Magpie is especially good for old tech, video games and consoles.
Good quality toys and used baby equipment tend to sell well on eBay. For more specialist collectable items such as LEGO or expensive wooden toys it’s often better to search for a specific Facebook selling group to reach an interested audience willing to pay more.
Promotion codes
I never do anything without searching for a discount code, it’s a great way to save a few extra pounds, or get free postage on your purchase. Honey is an easy way to find and check relevant codes, just take sure it doesn’t interfere with your cash back offers as sometimes adding a discount code means you don’t get the cashback.
Get a loyalty card
No one wants a wallet full of loyalty cards, but they are worth getting for stores you use a lot. The Boots Advantage card is well worth signing up to, as is Marks and Spencer Sparks. If you’re a LEGO fan, sign up to be a VIP and keep an eye out for special offer days for extra points and discounts as well as freebies.
Stock up slowly
I’ve noticed my online food shop for just before Christmas doesn’t have any valid offers, so I plan to buy things like alcohol and anything that will last more than a week beforehand if there’s an offer rather than full price nearer the big day.
