Let’s talk about gifts
The first thing to think about is gifts. As kids get older, their gift wants tend to get more expensive, so it’s okay to tell your kid that if they want something expensive that will likely be the only thing that they get. Sometimes parents try to stretch themselves too thin, buying all the expensive things that kids ask for and it’s hard to say no, but kids also change thier mind so often, it’s not work getting into debt for.
One idea is to ask them what they want, and see what they say. If they want something super expensive, just say that’s okay if you can afford it but that will be all. If they really want it, they will be okay with that. You can also look into funny birthday cards so that you can add one to the present to give them a chuckle with their gift!
A Party They Will Love
Then it’s time to move on to the party. You do not need to throw a party for 20 kids if you do not have the budget to do so. They can have an amazing birthday and party with 5 of their closest friends, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Just make sure that you are giving them the party that they want, and that they have the most important people there with them.
Most venues offer food packages for parties as well so look into those, and see what your options are. Ask your child what kind of food they would like, and see what the venue is able to do to accommodate you, this is particularly important if your child has any particular eating habits.
Don’t feel you need to go crazy with party bags either, often just a bag of sweets or small token item is plenty.
Be Present For It
Last but not least, just be present for it. More than anything in the world your kids want you, so give them you. Put the phone away, stop focusing on other things, and be wholly present.
We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the ways that you can go about making your kids’ birthday the best that you can. It’s all about the planning, and getting things in order because if you can do this, everything should go smoothly when the big day comes around. It can be a lot of stress, but it will be worth it all when you see your kid’s face light up.
