I’m starting to think I have crossed the line from slightly crazed to actually crazed, as today I stood behind our garden gate and waited patiently as 3 children opened it by themselves and walked into the garden one at a time, each shutting the gate behind them so the next could open it for themselves.
We had the same thing last weekend in a hotel with a keycard, which ended up going a bit wrong when the girls were on the inside of the room and decided to lock the door from the inside leaving Z and I on the outside, and believe me if there was a combination of my children I wouldn’t want on the wrong side of a door it would be those two.
So generally “I do it myself, Mummy” is lovely, but frustrating. I mean, what happens when I don’t have time to watch a door open 3 times before I get to go through it?
I find it hard enough with just the one incredibly independent girl who has to do everything herself – you must have unending patience for three of them! You’re right, it’s lovely, often funny, but at times very, VERY frustrating!
If only my patience was unending Molly…it all depends if I’m hungry or not.. 🙂
I love that I can laugh at this – simply because it isn’t me this time! Just repeat ‘it does get better, it does get better’ and make sure you buy lots of alcohol. Worked for me. Sort of..
off to add lots of wine to my weekly shop!
And breathe……! They may be trying to gain their independence but the patience required is unbelievably frustrating at times isn’t it?! You will be thankful in the long-run I guess. I have 3 so know how you feel!

I feel your pain and have to bite my fists when they do their buttons up or want to do their zips up as it takes so long! It’s a lesson in patience I keep telling myself over and over 🙂

Oh I do love this one!! ugh, in my house it leads to mini meltdowns if it isn’t done completely right…..leads to me looking the other way and mouthing a LOT of swear words! x

I only have it with one at the moment wanting to do things ‘his way’ so I can only imagine how much hard work is must be with 3! You just have to take a deep breath don’t you? x

Oh yes, I can definitely relate to this one! The whole ‘letting them be independent’ thing is vaguely ridiculous at times.
