Z is almost 6 and currently does swimming on a Saturday, football after school club and tennis lessons at our local tennis club. Is this enough for a 6 year old? Or should I be letting him experience as much as I can? Rather selfishly I am reluctant to give up Saturday and Sunday mornings which means football and rugby are out, but one is a possibility. I also have to think of the impact of Z’s extra curricular activities on the girls. If my husband or I take him somewhere, it means we can’t do something as a family. I also have to make sure they all get the same opportunities at the same age, which then of course starts to cost a lot with three children. I find it all quite difficult to manage. Especially when Z feels like he doesn’t do as much as his friends. Am I not giving him the same opportunities? Or is time at home with his family just as important? I cherish the time we spend just drawing, making brownies or reading stories.
How do you juggle classes for different children and ensure they all get the same opportunities.
Keeping all the children active plays a big part in my decisions also, but then we could all just go out on a bike ride and achieve the same level of exercise. I always think I should run along side their bikes, but for that I’ll need to swap my boots for trainers, which is easier said than done when you don’t have time to go shopping. I have just bought some amazing converse from Size? I might have to go back and look at their trainer range as well.
