We were kindly invited to Apple Weekend at West Green House and Gardens last weekend. We actually live quite close by but somehow hadn’t visited before even though we are National Trust members. It’s one of those places that I drive past and always want to visit but never find the time.
Apple weekend was the perfect time to visit. The weather was good, the kids were thrilled to be out of the house somewhere different and we all love apples!
There was an apple trail for children to follow with questions to answer on a sheet and lots of apple themed food and drink. The apple press was fascinating and the verdict from the kids was that the juice tasted ‘like apples’ which made me laugh, but it was just like drinking an apple.
Little Charlie declared he was off on an adventure and gleefully ran between the apples on the trail collecting clues an answering questions. The trail was lovely and a great way to encourage children to walk through the beautiful grounds.
The sunflowers all looked very sad, but still very majestic. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many in one place.
The gardens at West Green are beautiful and I spent a very enjoyable 20 minutes taking photos of flowers. We’ll definitely be back soon to explore further and can’t wait for the Halloween event.
I’s also really recommend a trip to the tea shop which smelled amazing and had a huge selection of yummy looking cakes and drinks.
