A honeymoon can be defined in as many ways as there are couples to plan them. For some, walking around a quaint European village, visiting the churches and local cafes and making a relaxing time of things could be seen as the ultimate relaxing vacation. For others, heading to a beautiful sandy beach or somewhere ultra-luxurious such as Dubai will be considered the height of comfort and possibility.
It can be nice curating your honeymoon in a luxurious fashion, because if all goes well, you’ll only have one of these in your lifetime. There’s something special about the post-wedding vacation, as you’ll have just confirmed your vows to your loved one and thus experience a ‘love charge’ similar to how intensely passionate you may have been when you first met. This is worth celebrating, and it’s also worth going out of your comfort zone for.
Of course, whatever honeymoon you are planning is more than enough, and we won’t for a moment convince you that your plans are lesser or should be changed. Yet if you’re looking to add a little luxury and spice to your vacation, you are more than welcome to do so. We’ve curated some advice for achieving this below:
A Beautiful Journey
The best thing to recognize is that travel should not only be a corporate and easy affair in which you select the best package deal and then set off into the sun. A beautiful journey can also be something that you craft for yourself, with novel selections that may be more luxurious than options you can find elsewhere.
Thinking of your entire vacation as a cohesive experience can also enable you to make choices you may not have otherwise. For instance, researching ‘how much does an airplane cost?’ can give you the chance to budget for a private plane or for more advanced travel accommodations than you are used to, allowing you to make the commute part of this wonderful experience. Too many people feel as though getting from point A to point B should be a chore that leaves you tired and fighting jet lag, but if you’re careful, you plan appropriately and you split this journey up as you may have otherwise, you can encounter a beautiful journey that starts from the moment you begin to travel. Not only does this increase your honeymoon time, but it helps you start things off in an intimate and special way with your partner.
Novel Accomodation
Novel accommodation can also provide you with many new and unlikely choices, because the more you look outside of the standard hotel paradigm for somewhere fun to stay, you realise just how many lodging opportunities there are. For instance, if traveling to the beautiful vistas of Edinburgh, many castles will open their doors to affluent travelers or those on their honeymoon, and you may be able to secure a beautiful room with incredible decoration and beauty truly away from it all. For those who love adventure, novel accommodation may also look like sleeping in a large, prebuilt tent, or a beautiful and novel beachside property. For those who just wish for a beautiful and great view of a city, renting out a hotel penthouse for a day or two might do just the trick.
This decision will quite clearly be made based on your tastes and financial wiggle room, but we would recommend going out of your comfort zone and trying something new for this beautiful vacation abroad, as you never quite know just what options may be afforded to you, and what experience you may have as a result. For instance, during the Northern light shows, many Norweigan rental cabins have open strengthened glass roofs to give you an amazing view of the light show while in bed sipping on your coffee. To us, that sounds like absolute heaven, and you may not have had an experience like that without a little further research.
A Relaxing, Romantic Purpose
A nice purpose to any trip away can help you structure your days. On a honeymoon this is perhaps very much welcome, due to the yawning tempation involved with just spending the day in each other’s arms. While this is a romantic proposition, it can also somewhat defeat the purpose of visiting somewhere special – and you have a lifetime for that kind of intimacy. A romantic purpose may involve lazily walking up a beachfront and sampling all of the fresh seafood restaurants there. For some, it may involve a more active sport, such as snowboarding or learning a skill like this together for the first time.
Whatever you choose, just be sure to have fun.
Give Yourself Enough Time
Give yourself enough time to enjoy your honeymoon. You may wish to travel to a new location with enthusiasm and care, but if you only have a day and a half to experience it, you may come back feeling a little deflated. Five days to a week is the perfect amount of time for most people, but if you can get the time off work and afford this, you may book your vacation either side of a public holiday and thus get two to three weeks off in a row. This gives you time to truly relax into your new surroundings, and it’s not hard to see why this can be so popular.
Make Changes Where Needed
The suggestions in this list are just advisory, because sometimes our personal situation can lead us to decisions that may work for us, but not others. For instance, if you bring along your child due to not wanting to leave him/her at home for three weeks with a grandparent, or if you have no one to look after them, it can be they come to enjoy their first proper family holiday with you through this lens. Do not think that a successful honeymoon can only be comprised of a couple, as whatever familial love is shared is more than applicable here.
With this advice, we hope you can honeymoon in style with these 5 luxurious tips.
