It’s springtime in Australia, which means that it’s time to give the home a clean and a refresh. Whether you’re going to just clean the place and get it decluttered or you want to go with full redecoration, giving your home a refresh is something that you should be planning for at least twice a year. There is something about a new season of extended daylight and life that pops up all around outside that can bring that feeling of needing to change. Refreshing your house doesn’t even have to cost you anything if you know how to do it correctly.
Being able to refresh your home is a privileged position to be in because not everybody can afford the time or the effort that goes into a house refresh. If you’re worrying about getting your home refreshed for the season, then worry no longer because here are some tips to help you to give your home the refresh that it needs.
- Work from the outside in. Calling in the best interior & exterior painting experts you can find is the place to start! Having the outside and the inside of your home refreshed with a lick of paint is going to be a cheap way to get your home looking updated and refreshed in no time at all. When was the last time you gave the exterior of your home a paint job? This is something you should be considering because having your house repainted is going to be a big job, but it’s going to be absolutely worth it. Starting from the outside and working your way in, you can go room to room and refresh your entire place.
- Rearrange the furniture. You don’t have to go as big as house painting to give your home the refresher that it needs. Your house can look completely different just by moving furniture around into new locations. From moving your couch into a different corner or moving your furniture into a different room, you’ll be able to give yourself more space than you’ve ever had before.
- Clean the house from top to bottom. OK, so you don’t even have to do this one if you don’t want to. Call in an expert cleaning company to come in and get your home cleaned from top to bottom for you. Not only will their expertise really help you to see where your home needs to be decluttered, but you’ll feel refreshed and cleaning can do wonders for your house. Not only does it make your house cleaner and clearer, but it makes the whole home look nicer. You know when you walk into somebody else’s show home, you could have that for your house too. While you are cleaning, you may even come across some furniture or decorations that were put outside and not a functional part of your home. These treasures can be put in your house to create a really fresh look.
- Rearrange your paintings and pictures. Furniture isn’t the only thing you can move around. Changing the layout of the pictures and paintings of your home can really make a big difference. Always make sure that your frames are eye level too, unless they are hanging vertically down the walls. You want to ensure that people can actually enjoy the paintings and pictures that you’ve hung in your home, including you.
- Encourage better lighting by moving your mirrors around. Take a look at where the light comes in naturally from your windows and where it bounces off of. Placing mirrors opposite those windows and angling them to bounce to the other corners of the room can brighten the place up in an instant. Experiment with moving your mirrors around because it could just surprise you to see how much different your home can look with mirrors in different places. Mirrors don’t just offer light; they can help you create the illusion of more space if you place them correctly.
- Make any repairs that you need to make. If you’ve been holding off doing any of the outside repairs, then it’s time to do them now that spring is setting in. If you have a list of repairs that need to be done, from fixing loose woodwork to sewing furniture that needs to be fixed, it’s time to get that done now and as early as possible. You want to change up your house for the better, and that’s exactly how you can do that.
- Put out fresh fruit. If you’re not worrying about fruit flies where you live, then nothing spells spring quite like the additional colour pop of fresh fruit in the home. When you get your fruit from the grocery store, don’t hide it away in the refrigerator. Have it in a hanging basket or on the kitchen or dining room table so people can see it. Fruit has a good way of freshening up a room in the same way that cutting fresh flowers does.
- Swap your linens and towels. Now is a great time to change them, and sometimes, little things like this can change and freshen up the atmosphere of your home in an instant.
- Put away the winter wares. From clothes to blankets, it’s time to put away all of the thick winter throws, rugs, pillows and blankets on your beds so that you can make way for the lighter options for spring. Padding out the home in the winter is kind of like nesting and keeping things warm. But now you’re not in winter, you need to make sure that all of those winter wares are put away.
Being ready for spring and summer will put you in the mood to clean and refresh your home properly. Once you’ve done this, your home will feel ready for anything!
